A new Cape Cod mat has a very smooth and shiny surface. Over time, this becomes rougher and duller due to the influence of the weather. This is not a sign of poor quality, but rather a desired effect. To increase the slip resistance of a new mat, you should definitely place the mat on an unpolished, non-slip surface at the entrance.

To clean the mat, you can simply hose it down. It's best to first remove the dried mud or dirt with a brush and then hose off your Cape Cod mat. Tip: if you're in a hurry, you can simply turn the mat over, it can be used on both sides.
